5 Local Fall Activities in Glastonbury, CT

With fall just a couple weeks away, we’re looking forward to a busy new season — with back-to-school cuts, darker shades of brunettes and reds, and of course our favorite seasonal activities. Helllllo apple picking!

This week on the blog, we’re sharing a roundup of our favorite local activities to make the most of the fall season!

1. Go Apple Picking:

Apple picking season is in full swing! Luckily, Glastonbury is jam-packed with local orchards for you to get your fix, including Scott’s Orchard and Nursery, Dondero OrchardsBelltown Hill Orchards, and Rose’s Berry Farm.

2. Stock up on Local Farm Goodies:

There’s nothing like local, farm-fresh goodies, and Glastonbury is full of wonderful spots for you to support your local farmers. We love Killam & Bassette Farmstead for seasonal produce, local meats, cheeses and other farm-fresh goodies. And Scott’s Orchard and Nursery is also a wonderful destination for scooping up fresh produce or picking out the perfect pumpkin for your porch.

3. Indulge in a Fresh Apple Cider Donut:

Is it really even fall if you don’t indulge in an apple cider donut, or 12? Lucky for you, The Old Cider Mill opens this weekend, a perfect family-friendly fall pitstop for farm animals and you guessed it — irresistible cider donuts. And your favorite summer ice cream stop Robb’s is famous for their hot homemade apple fritters for the fall season!

4. Attend a Local Vendor Fair:

While many events may be canceled this year due to the pandemic (like the beloved Apple Fest), it doesn’t mean you still can’t shop local. Drop by this Multi Vendor Pop-Up Sale hosted by  dapple + grey to shop from a variety of local companies like Ginger & Pickles, Timber & Thyme, and Hair Today owner’s daughter Healthy Chicks. The event is held on September 26th from 9am-2pm right on Main Street in Glastonbury!

5. Sip on a Pumpkin Spice Latte:

Cliche? Maybe, but it doesn’t mean they’re not delicious. Get your seasonal PSL fix at local favorites: Berkins Blend, Daybreak, and So G Coffee Roasters. Not a fan of pumpkin? No problem. Local cafe RaonJena makes a mean seasonal Taro Latte — a hot rendition of their popular iced drink.

Enjoy your favorite fall activities, while supporting your local community!
